Retractable leashes

dog moderate
Hazard
The thin cord can cause deep lacerations, rope burn, or finger injury if it contacts skin while paying out at speed, and the plastic handle or metal clasp can break under load, letting the leash recoil into the owner's face or eyes.
Notes
A 2008 CPSC recall of roughly 223,000 SlyDog retractable leashes followed reports including a broken tooth and a displaced eye lens after the metal clasp broke.
